Be part of the bigger, better B9 Challenge – keeping the ever-faithful returning riders on their ‘pedals’!

Sunshine Coast’s ever-popular Buderim 9 Challenge is coming of age!  With seven successful events under its belt and an ever-growing field of riders, the Argon Law Buderim 9 Challenge has a host of new features on offer this year!

Ride Ambassador and Australian Cycling Champion, Henk Vogels said the exciting, annual 76km community cycling event, covering nine tough hills around Buderim, has revised the challenging course, incorporated a new ride start and finish location, and now sports a brand-new look.

“The Buderim 9 Challenge has outgrown its current format,” Henk said.

“The new course starts (and finishes) at its new home located at the Wanderer’s Soccer Club, Ballinger Road at the southern foothills of Buderim which will provide more room for the growing rider and supporter base.

“This also means the order of the 76km hill challenge needed a shake-up, which will give the ever-faithful returning riders a new perspective and keep them on their ‘pedals’!”

Local cerebral palsy champions and ride ambassador, Max Quaglio, said the event raises valued funds for local cerebral palsy organisation, CPL – Choice Passion Life.

“This year’s event is taking place on Sunday 16th December,” said Max,

“Last year saw more than 300 cyclists from around the globe and across the country join local riders take the 3-hour course, raising proceeds for families on the Sunshine Coast living with cerebral palsy.

“Ride registrations are now open, so visit the Buderim 9 Challenge website ( for entry and event details.

“And don’t forget, if you register before 2 November, you will receive the very popular, annual Buderim 9 rider jersey included as part of your registration!”

John Gallagher, Director of Principal Sponsor, Argon Law, is encouraging riders to raise as much pre-event donations as possible all for a great cause.

“Set yourself the target for your name to appear on the prestigious Argon Law perpetual trophy – as the Highest Fund Raiser of the 2018 Buderim 9 Challenge,” John said.

“Fundraisers go in the draw for a cycling trip around the French Alps! sponsored by Velo Tours.”

“Buderim 9 proceeds support those living with cerebral palsy and related physical disabilities and your donations change the lives in a small but meaningful way of many families on the Sunshine Coast.

“The Buderim 9 Challenge is a fabulous example of individuals within our community and local businesses coming together for a common cause and a bit of fun and personal challenge.”

Manager of CPL’s Sunshine Coast service, Georgina Quin-Conroy, said last year’s event saw 300 riders, nine hill sponsors and many amazing donations of goods, time, sweat and money!

“Last year raised more than $24,000 to support children and families on the Sunshine Coast with cerebral palsy,” Ms Quin-Conroy said.

“We are so grateful for the efforts and generosity of all those who continue to help make this event such an extraordinary success.”
