On the day, where can I park and what time do I need to be there?

All the information needed for the ride day can be found in the On the Day page. Short answer is there is no rider parking at Wanderers, rider parking is at the School around the corner (to short to call a warm up), Registration starts at 4:00, Rider Briefing at 4:45.

When did the Buderim 9 event start?

The Buderim 9 event started in 2010 when a group of riding buddies came up with the idea or riding up 9 of the most iconic hills in Budrim (to born off some potential Christmas weight gains).

Who organises the Buderim 9 event?

The Buderim 9 event is organised by a group of dedicated volunteers from the local community who are passionate about promoting cycling and supporting the chosen charity. The Buderim9 is a not for profit incoorporated association. It is not a registered charity but helps raise funds for the chosen charity. In 2026, we are proud to support Yhe Pyjama Foundation.

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes, donations to the Pyjama Foundation are tax deductible. The platform we use for riders to register is mycause. On registration, individual fundraising pages are created, . The sponsorship contributions and the registration fees is used by the Buderim9 organisation to cover the administrative and event costs are not tax deductable.

Is the Buderim 9 event a race?

No, the Buderim 9 event is not a race. It is a time limited cycling challenge event that takes place on a predefined route.

Are the riders timed?

No, the Buderim 9 event is not a timed event, we do attempt to record the ride number of all participants as they cross the finish line with the number of hills completed noted where possible. The reason for this is so we can ensure all participants are accounted for. We will start ringing unaccounted for participants.

If you want your time, and lets face it, that's what we're all here for! We suggest that you use a cycling computer or smartphone app to track your own times.

There will be a place for you to enter your times and hills completed at the end of the event.

Do I have to complete all the 9 hills?

Definetely not! Riders can choose to complete as many or as few hills as they like. Most riders challenge themselves to complete more hills than they completed last time.

Is the Buderim 9 event suitable for all skill levels?

The event is designed to be challenging yet achievable for experienced cyclists, however, riders of all skill levels are welcome to participate, even if your goal is to complete just 1 hill!. Don't forget there is also the Buderim Electric.

How long does it take to complete the last hill? (Mooloolaba Rd)

This depends on your fitness level and cycling ability and if you have allready hit the wall. On average, it takes between 15-20 minutes to complete.

How do the fundraising prizes work?

For every $50 you raise, you will recieve one chance in the prize draws.
You will get up to a maximum of 10 chances.
You need to be at the presentations after the event to receive your prize. (or have a good reason such as still volunteering 😇)
Prizes will be drawn from the highest to lowest value.
The highest fundraiser's name will be engraved on the perpetual trophy.

What is the teams structure?

The teams competion is designed to promote groups to train, fundraise and ride the Buderim 9. We have designed the scoring so that there is a huge advantage in having a) more female riders, b) having larger teams, and of course c) raising more funds for the pyjama Foundation. Here are the rules.

Teams can be made up of 3-10 riders who are nominated before the event.
A rider can only be in one team.
Each female team member will have their hills completed score multiplied by a factor of 1.5
Each male team member will have their hills completed score multiplied by a factor of 1
On completion of the event, the score will be calculated based on amount raised by the whole team multiplied by the number of factored hills completed by the team.
Teams need to communicate their number of hills completed to the event organisers and be able to prove hills completed for each rider via some electronic tracking app at the end of the event and matched in in each riders dashboard.
Teams members that do not report their hills completed will rbe removed from the team calculations.
Team with the highest score wins!
A member of the winning needs to be present at the presentations after the event to receive the team prize.
Team members are still part of the fundraising prize draws.

Can I swap my jersey if it doesn't fit?

Generally no, but you can come and see us at the end of the event to see what may be left over, we don't order many extra jerseys. Check out the BOWY jersey sizing chart for reference.
