Argon Law: Supporting the Sunshine Coast Community
For Argon Law, being a successful law firm is about more than providing high-quality legal advice. Based in Maroochydore and serving clients across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and surrounding regions, Argon Law has developed a strong reputation for commercial and business law while placing community involvement at the heart of its values.
The firm describes good corporate citizenship as “tangible, meaningful and collaborative”. This philosophy is reflected in its involvement with community initiatives, sporting events, the arts, education and volunteer legal services. One of the strongest examples is the firm’s long-standing support of the Buderim 9 Challenge.
Supporting the Buderim 9 Challenge
The Buderim 9 Challenge became an important part of the Sunshine Coast community calendar, bringing together cyclists, volunteers, businesses and families for a challenging 76-kilometre ride over nine of Buderim’s hills. The event was organised in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Cycling Club and the Cerebral Palsy League, now known as CPL, with funds raised helping Sunshine Coast families living with cerebral palsy and related disabilities.
Argon Law was principal sponsor for many years and was closely involved in helping bring the event together. Its support extended beyond sponsorship, with the Argon Law team hosting sponsor and supporter gatherings and celebrating volunteers, riders and local businesses. The iconic start/finish arch was purchased for the event and has since been donated to the Buderim 9. Argon Law also helped establish the original buderim9.com.au domain and website.
The results demonstrated the power of the community coming together. The 2015 Buderim 9 attracted 237 riders and raised more than $16,000. By 2017, the event had grown to a record 302 registered riders, with fundraising supporting local children and families affected by cerebral palsy. Argon Law also provided a perpetual trophy recognising the event’s highest fundraiser.
The impact was particularly evident in stories such as that of CPL ambassador Alex Picken, who used a communication device funded through Buderim 9 proceeds. His improved ability to communicate with family and friends provided a powerful reminder that community fundraising can create practical, lasting benefits.
Although the 2018 ride was cancelled because of poor weather, an alternative program continued and fundraising remained active. In 2019, Argon Law was again principal sponsor, marking its seventh year of support. This long-term involvement illustrates how a business can contribute through sustained commitment rather than one-off sponsorship.
Supporting Arts and Culture
Argon Law’s community involvement extends beyond cycling. The firm has developed a significant relationship with the Sunshine Coast National Art Prize. In 2026, Argon Law celebrated more than eight years as a major sponsor, supporting an event that showcases contemporary Australian artists and contributes to the cultural life of the region.
The partnership creates opportunities for people to experience creativity, connect with artists and celebrate the cultural identity of the Sunshine Coast, while providing Argon Law with another meaningful way to give back to the region.
Investing in the Future
Education is another area where Argon Law has sought to make a difference. The firm has supported University of the Sunshine Coast academic law prizes since the inaugural Commercial Law Prize in 2017, recognising high-achieving students and encouraging the next generation of legal professionals.
Argon Law has also supported initiatives such as SC2032 as a Foundation Sponsor. The community-led organisation aims to help the Sunshine Coast maximise opportunities associated with the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games while strengthening the region’s long-term economic, cultural and community legacy.
A Local Firm with a Community Focus
Argon Law’s involvement in the Buderim 9 and its wider community activities demonstrates a consistent philosophy: a professional services firm can play an active role in strengthening the community in which it operates. Whether supporting families affected by disability, celebrating Australian artists, encouraging future lawyers or contributing to regional initiatives, the firm’s approach is centred on participation and collaboration.
For the Sunshine Coast, this local involvement matters. Community events rely on businesses, volunteers and individuals working together, and organisations such as Argon Law can provide resources, visibility and ongoing support. Its history of supporting the Buderim 9, the arts, education and broader community programs demonstrates how professional expertise and community spirit can work together to create a positive local legacy.
